Agenda of the Extraordinary General Assembly (Second Meeting)
Saturday, May 24, 2025
📌 Item 1:
Based on requests from numerous associations that generate budget surpluses and are affected by the executive regulations limiting board member remuneration to no more than EGP 3,000 per year (a value set in 1983).
Given that many associations achieve a surplus through their efforts and generosity, instead of receiving remuneration in accordance with the provisions of Law 123 of 1983, which does not exceed 10%, the regulations prevent this from being implemented, especially given the significant difference between the value of the pound in 1983 and today.
Therefore, an amendment was proposed for a decision to be issued by the Minister of Agriculture based on the approval of the extraordinary general assembly, so that every hard-working person who serves sincerely has the right to receive this reward.
🔹 Contrary to what some claim, this does not apply to members of the union's board of directors.
📌 Item 2:
Associations (Red Sea, Suez, Ismailia, Kafr El Sheikh, Aswan, and a number of Upper Egypt associations) submitted a request to increase the number of seats on the union's board of directors.
✅ The request was presented to the Board of Directors and postponed until the amendment of Law 123 of 1983, which is currently before the House of Representatives, is finalized.
📍 After discussions, the board unanimously approved the following:
Adding three associations (Ismailia and the Bitter Lakes) to the Port Said seat, so that the seat now represents seven associations.
Amend the Red Sea seat to include 15 associations instead of 18, distributed as follows:
Red Sea: 8 associations
Suez: 5 associations
South Sinai: 3 associations
🔹 Note that the last amendment to the seats was the separation of Port Said from North Sinai.
📝 Conclusion:
Achieving justice is a trust, and the current council has laid the foundation for amending the Water Resources Cooperatives Law and preparing a comprehensive study for fair amendments that take into account all regions and governorates.
This is to ensure that the Water Resources Cooperative Union is in its rightful place, achieving strength and continuity.
With nominations opening in February, God willing, we ask God to guide those whose candidacy is purely for the service of our people.
